I'm at home again this weekend. I came home this morning to see the new Harry Potter movie with my mom. It was pretty good, however, I wasn't really satisfied with the ending. It seemed to be "missing" a lot of the important elements of the book - for instance...who were Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs? The book explained it all...and went into much more depth about the relationship between the four boys and Snape. The movie didn't. Also, the movie left out the great ending to the book...Sirius's signing of the permission slip to Hogsmeade for the next term. Or was that in the fourth book? I can't quite remember. Nonetheless, the movie was loyal to the book for much of the 2-hour-plus extravaganza.
What's up with the shriveled heads? Man, that movie wasn't one for little kids. I sat next to a family of four. Nice day for the movies, right? Well, the kids were about 6 months old and 2 years old. Man. I went to Finding Nemo with a four-year-old and parts of that movie scared her. When the dementors came to chase Sirius and Harry at the end of the movie, that 2-year-old's eyes were as big as saucers. Don't these parents think about these types of things? That's why we have ratings systems. Parental guidance means choosing not to see the movie as much as it means watching the whole thing with your kid. Perhaps I'm equally jaded by the fact that the baby pooped its diapers about halfway through the movie and it took the mom another half hour before she noticed (I noticed much earlier...p-u!) and then spent the last half hour of the movie CRYING. Why would you bring such a young baby to a movie? It boggles the mind.
Anyways...enough of complaining.
I'm really looking forward to Jody's graduation party tomorrow. Should be lots of fun. I'm heading out to visit her in a few hours; have a little pre-graduation party fun! I can't wait to see how our pottery turned out. We did some fun pottery one day a month or so ago in Geneva. I did a cookie platter and she did a beautiful plate. I'll post a picture when I get it back.
